Another year, another many stops at Takodas. This time tried the buffalo burger, which was great, and now that they serve breakfast I've tried their marionberry pancakes which were fantastic and they also have excellent bacon. Glad to see this place is still doing good business!

I had breakfast here and it was very nice. The prices were very good- $5.50 for an egg, with biscuit and sausage gravy, and two strips of thick cut bacon. Everything tasted fresh and looked and tasted like quality ingredients. The service was prompt and came with a smile.

Surprisingly good eats. Was in there twice this past week, both times good food, good service. Had the potato nacho appetizer and the burger topped with Chipotle sauce and onion rings.

Food was great, fresh Marion and berry cobbler. They were all working their tails off. We only go down to Rainbow once a year but we will definitely be back. Super friendly too.

We were visiting the area from Southern, Ca. Considering the few eateries in the area, we were pleasantly surprised with this gem of a restaurant. We sat on the patio, which was so well-manicured and was like a secret garden with a water feature and numerous fresh flowers and trees. The salad bar was fresh and ingredients chilled to perfection. Everything was flavorful and there was a good variety of vegetables and mixed prepared salads as well as the typical items you would expect: hard boiled eggs, cottage cheese, nuts, croutons, etc. We also ordered the rib dinner. $20 for a full rack, heaping portion of sweet potato fries, and cole slaw. The ribs were perfectly cooked and fell off the bones. For dessert we ordered a daily homemade special which was a berry cobbler, that was a generous portion and was served with 3 scoops of vanilla ice cream. The restaurant was clean and is run by very courteous staff. We ordered two large coffees to go and both had iced tea at dinner. Our bill came to about $50 with tip. Great value for the portions and were able to take half the rack home for leftovers. We will definitely be back next time we visit our family in Oregon.

I would definitely recommend this place. It's a great place just to hang out or have a family outing for some pizza. Takoda's has great outside seating so you can enjoy the nice cool breeze on a hot sunny day. Their food is one of the best in the Mckenzie River area.

After a hike we came here to have some lunch and I would come back again! My friends had the Sasquash burger and fries which was messy but delicious. I had the pork sandwich with tator tots, not the best bbq sauce I have ever had but all around a good sandwich and the tots were very crisp. The crown jewel was the Marionberry cobbler, you must get some!

Takoda's is a great place to stop for lunch if you're traveling on the road or about to do some rafting. Their food was delicious! I drove in from Eugene to visit the McKenzie river, and off of a local recommendation, drove an additional 30 minutes to visit Takoda's. It looks like your average gas station side restaurant but there is a cute outdoor patio that I'd highly recommend enjoying during good weather. We ordered their onion rings which were huge, hot and delicious. The BBQ sauce that comes with them is great. The rings had plenty of batter but also thickly cut onion slices - win! I had their buffalo burger with Tillamook white cheddar and avocado. It was yummy with a nicely toasted bun, thick juicy patty, and fresh toppings. Their side apple cranberry slaw is well worth the upgrade dollar. It's a nice cut to all the grease you'll otherwise be eating. They also have a salad bar where you get a plate (main or as a side) and can create your own salad. The ingredient were fresh and of good quality - a surprise for most salad bars. Our server was attentive and friendly, always filling up our glasses and checking in. I was really impressed by this little roadside restaurant and would highly recommend anyone traveling through to stop in!

I had the pulled pork over fries ad it was awesome, more then I could eat! It was so good we went back the next night for dinner and had pizza and Turkey sandwich on Focacia bread, another great meal. We enjoyed sitting outside both nights. Great service and very friendly, I even bought some earrings at their gift shop.

We discovered this restaurant while on a mountain biking trip to the Mckenzie River trail area. We literally went there for dinner every single night we were there. The food was AMAZING and the staff was great! I loved that I could get a turkey burger and have a healthy side of cottage cheese. YUM! And my daughter loved getting a mini pizza all to herself. One thing I do have to say was that on our last night there, the final server we had did an extremely poor job of attending to us. While other patrons were getting their food on a timely basis, she came and told us that there was a mistake and our food had just barely been put in to the kitchen. No apology or anything. And then even when we did get our food, no apology for the delay, just dropped it off. And then a completely different server brought us our check. I don't know what we did to tick her off, but I was just shocked at the poor service after two previous evenings of excellent service. That being said, we WILL be coming back to this restaurant when we venture that way again next summer!!

Went with the burgers and beer. Good. Freindly staff. Turned up the volume on the medium sized tv to watch World Cup soccer. Clean bathrooms. Actually marked the spot on our map.

We loved this place! Our waitress Cheryl was a sweetie and we had a lovely spot int he sun outside. My husband loves his eggs sunny side up and NO ONE ever makes them right! BUT Tony the cook knew just how to make the eggs and he also made grits for him and biscuits and gravy! Being a Kentucky Boy my honey loves his southern breakfast and he was THRILLED with it! I had as much enjoyment out of watching him eat his breakfast than I have in many years! LOL WOOT!!!! People must be too effin picky, cuz this place was well worth the stop!

The friendliest service adds the last star:) I imagined the cooks could not execute the refined menu offerings and was so surprised and humbled by the gourmet meal we got!! Definitely have the cottage pie! I've had cottage pie across the country and this was at the top of the "best" list. It doesn't actually come in a pie crust, however the top is layered with potatoes and cheese and perfectly browned. The pie is filled with gravy, vegetables, and ground BUFFALO meat, delish! The boyfriend had the buffalo burger, which he wolfed down without incident and proclaimed it to be one of the best burgers ever. They do not do breakfast, so hit up Vida Cafe for that! :) They do make food to go, and have a large selection of pizzas.

This restaurant is so gross. Went in the other day me and my husband were about the only people in there. My food took over an hour to come out then had mold on my bread and the food was cold like it had been sitting out. The service was probably the worst i had ever received. our waitress was an older lady with grey hair had an rude tone with any question we had about the menu we also over heard her complaining to her coworker that we didn't tip enough. will never be going there again.

I rolled into Rainbow, Oregon, about 11:00 am, nervous about my first whitewater rafting trip scheduled for that afternoon on the McKenzie River. In my eagerness, I had arrived early, so I stopped at Takoda's for a light brunch. Once I passed through the entryway, which was open to the kitchen, I could appreciate the décor. It was a good fit for the surrounding forest. It was woodsy and understated, with lots of knotty pine paneling and local art on the walls, much of it available to buy. Additional seating was provided on a balcony overlooking the main dining area plus an inviting patio. Pinball machines filled an area in the back, with slot machines in a separate no-kids-allowed niche for anyone feeling lucky. I was greeted immediately at the door and asked whether I wanted breakfast or lunch. I took both menus and had a hard time deciding. The offerings for both were appealing. Breakfast entrees were typical, but the lunch menu pulled me in with its unique offerings. I settled on the Italian Ham/Sausage/Provolone Focaccia sandwich with pub fries. Other side options included coleslaw, soup, and kettle fries. I was also tempted by the well-stocked salad bar. The server was friendly and courteous and the service was efficient. (Of course, I was there before the lunch crowd hit, so I can't speak to rush hour service.) The sandwich was displayed attractively on the plate with the fries and a lettuce garnish. The sandwich exceeded my expectation. The bread was fresh and the meat and cheese tasty. Loved the fries (and I'm hard to please when it comes to restaurant fries). They were crispy and delicious. All in all a pleasant and relaxing experience--and the prices were budget friendly.

I drove all the way from California just to come here and get Owner Kail Harbick to sign my book "Chasing the Crown". Wow! What a great book she wrote. And great food at Takoda's was a major plus. Love the pulled pork sandwich!!

Nice garden except for the yellow jackets and Mosquitos . Nice wide ranging menus advertising all varieties of specialized and locally sourced products. I have my doubts on this count. For breakfast we ordered the "fresh made " hash browns. If by fresh they meant freshly rehydrated, then that would have been accurate. Having spent several seasons in the food service industry, I can tell the rehydrated carton Sysco kind from the real thing. I am ok eating these if that is what your write in your menu, but you clearly indicate and highlight the freshness on your menu, which is my problem. It is patently dishonest to do so. I actually had better and fresher hashbrowns in the Portland airport. This makes me wonder what else is on the menu that is not as you claim. Enthusiastic and optimistic tourists are easily duped. Is the cheese really artesianal? Is the buffalo really buffalo? I' m from NC, so I know the pulled pork is less than legit. Where's the smoker? Liked the salad bar, liked my burger which was perfectly cooked, but doubt it was as organic and local as claimed. Liked my French toast which was exactly as I like of the egg dipped Texas toast variety . Just make your menu servings reflect their dubious claims or adjust the actual menu and you would get 4.5 stars. No one likes being taken advantage of. Your food is executed well enough, the staff friendly and competent, the iPads are a nice if not hipster touch, just don't lie to me and we can all get along.

Pretty good reviews from other Yelpers but different story from my experience. Was deciding on the buffalo burger or pizza. Decided on pizza since their menu selection was mostly pizza. The pizza was way under baked. I took one huge bite and it was all doughy and soggy in the middle. To be nice, I think the pizza would have been fine if they had left it in the oven for about 5 more mins or so bc everything about the pizza was fine. My 2 cents, walk next door to Harbick's Country Store and pick yourself up a couple chicken on the sticks and a pound of the mac and cheese.

This place is way better than you might think from first impressions. Granted, the restaurant looks like any kind of roadside diner in Oregon, but once we made it through to the outdoor garden, we realized we had thoroughly underestimated this restaurant. Takoda's offers a surprisingly modern menu with pizzas, sandwiches and burgers that have options like the world class Rogue River Bleu cheese. I had a tuna melt which was quite good, my mom had the classic hamburger which she really liked (not extraordinary, but good), and my husband had the mac and cheese (enormous portion!) with a (Ninkasi?) porter reduction. Very nice. The garden is so beautiful as well, and I highly recommend sitting outside when you go. They have a lovely fish pond with a waterfall, a gorgeous view of a mountain/butte behind the restaurant, and because the garden is closed off from the road, it doesn't have the feel of being by the highway at all. Our only complaint was the poor service. Perhaps they were having an off-day because nobody else here mentions it (or perhaps a lot of these reviews were written by their friends), but it took much too long to be seated, and the guy who did seat us never said a word the entire time. The service wasn't exactly rude, but it was like everyone was in a bad mood and very tired or something. Not sure why, since it was only the start of Sunday lunch hour and not busy yet at all. The food also took a good half hour to come out even though our orders were really simple. Not sure what happened, but I almost gave this place a 3 star review as a result. The food is quite good though, and the garden is lovely, so I do recommend checking out this place. Perhaps the service will be better!

Nice place, good food. When we were looking for someplace to eat near our hotel in Vida, OR, and I saw that this was really the only choice, I didn't expect much. So I was happily surprised to see the place looked good and the food was good.

Enjoyed a few meals here. Breakfast was great. Great bacon and large portions. The Rebuen sandwich was a favorite, too. The best, though, has to be their pizza. It was thick and tasty. I'm usually a very thin pizza kind of guy, but this hit the spot. I've had moments of craving more of it. The Harbicks, who are the owners, are great people who also run the store next door. If you're in the area, stop by and pay them a visit.

We ordered the iced tea, salmon burger, and marionberry cobbler. I give this a solid 3 stars and my husband 2 stars, based purely on the food. I should preface that by noting that I prepare almost all of our meals from scratch with America's Test Kitchen and other recipes and make gourmet desserts all the time. Homemade bread, ice cream, pasta, etc. So we are foodies. We care very little about the setting or service, but are spoiled for good food (oh well). We entered the restaurant and were greeted in a few minutes then immediately seated. The inside of the restaurant is a gorgeous wooden building, though somewhat random in that they have styled it a la coffee shop with local art with a pink glitter feminine theme and other random art, instead of going with the beauty of the building and doing their own decorating. But I digress. We chose to sit outside, which was very beautiful and relaxing! Again the landscaping was just random plants from Home Depot that didn't maximize the huge potential of this space, but it was quite pleasant. It does get really dark out there after a certain hour, with very little lighting. I enjoyed the salmon burger with its Asian style coleslaw and mild wasabi sauce, but I think that a more advanced chef would have chosen a recipe where you can actually taste the fish, whose flavor was completely overpowered by the slaw. Yummy to me (not my husband, who had the same), but again it mostly was the taste of the slaw. The cobbler was IMO overly sweet but ok. The server was super friendly and the service was good. This may be the best place in town*, but I just wanted to write an honest review for other foodies like me... Go in with average expectations and you won't be disappointed. *A reviewer corrected me that this is not a "town." It is an "unincorporated community." Duly noted ;)

Don't let the address fool you. It's right on Hwy 126. Great place for casual dining inside. wandering outside to the patio raises the elegance ( no tv or video game noise) . Good country food plus pizza . Good beer . The one star review by the lady from Austin may be what she experienced but I think she must have been 50 miles away since she said there was a Bi Mart next door. It happens. This is also one of my favorite breakfast places in the immediate area. For those of us who do not have TV in the cabins this and Holiday Farm are the source of our football and nascar fixes. If you are looking for a quiet dinner you probably want the patio or away from the tv. Service is generally good. Although the area is filled with some of the nicest people in the world, the concept of service is not really understood by some of the younger people . For others it's second nature so the experience can vary. As others noted this is a great place to go after a rafting trip, bike ride on the McKenzie trail or other outdoor adventure. The locals come here directly from working outside , consider it business casual in the hinterlands. There are a variety of desserts including ice cream which goes very well on a warm summer evening. If you noticed the sign for the golf course , it's rated as one of the best public courses in the nation.

After a 25 mile bike ride we found a food and drink Mecca at takodas. The service was amazing, the bloody Mary and onion rings, salad bar, and burgers were amazing! We returned the next night and left satisfied once again!

We were here for the weekend in this majestic part of Oregon where the most splendid McKenzie River is always at your side. Lot of ground to cover for sure, though there are not that many restaurants inbetween. We did find this one thanks to a local recommending it however. We ended up going here twice. The first time for dessert. I ordered a glass of wine and asked what the desserts were. Everything ended with cheesecake. Raspberry cheesecake, 3 chocolate cheesecake, some other cheesecake. You get the picture. Cheesecake has never been a favorite of mine as the whole cheese thing in a cake just seems wrong. I can always taste that cream cheese or the sourness in it. I did want dessert so I picked the one with white chocolate, dark chocolate and milk chocolate mousse cheesecake. A mouthful, yes I said it. I took a bite of it and it was so light (another thing I dislike is the rich density melty blech) much more mousse like! Had another bite, and no sour after-taste.. Converted slightly perhaps? Or I might be one of those that looks for the cheesecake I once had while visiting the McKenzie river.

This place is bomb! Anytime we go camping near this area it's a must to stop at Takoda's for breakfast. This place has the best french toast. I don't know what it is that makes it so good but after camping and hiking for a couple of days it hits the spot. The outdoor seating area is really nice too. I recommend eating out there if it's available.

This is a great place. In the middle of nowhere on highway 126 you come upon this gas station and restaurant. The food here is phenomenal. Great salad bar, great burgars. everything is awesome. They have really nice outside seating in the summer time. The staff is always friendly. They also have lots of little fun sayings and weird little books like "Things you shouldn't do after age 30" I would go out of my way for this place. Great excuse for a summer drive. Phenomenal is about the only way to describe this place.

We didn't have much luck in the Rainbow area with restaurants. We seemed to get bad service, bad food, or both. So we tended to hold up at Takodas. From the street, the place looks like a cowboy bar, or maybe a "B" movie set. Inside was sort of a typical generic eatery - rows of mass produced wooden tables, flanked by a salad bar. Out back was a patio set in a beautiful garden, nestled among a grove of old conifers. The food was very good, and arrive in honest portions. The service was friendly and experienced. Tokodas was hopping - apparently other folks were holding up here too. On Saturday night they had live music and the patio was packed. We were at Takodas a lot over our weekend. The salad bar is decent. The fish and chips are good. The onion rings with Takodas secret BBQ sauce is to die for. Their pizza is quite passable - not gourmet but damn good. I had a blackberry cobbler that was definitely homemade and killer. This is the place to eat in Rainbow Oregon.
